WHO IS INVESTING HEAVILY IN A PROJECT WHICH WILL FAIL?

The correct answer is “No one”.

But yet, there is a lot of skepticism and a massive lack of trust in the potential success of Project Ara. The issues addressed are mostly related to the overhead which Google ATAP is trying to handle while breaking an existing technology  model in smaller, more versatile parts.
Information about solved issues and major progress are rare, and even when they are given, they are rarely featured in mainstream media, which contributes further to the skepticism.
There is certainly no evidence that a failure of Project Ara is impossible, yet, if you look at the companies involved and their contribution to the project, a failure is a lot less likely.

Thus, in order to reduce some of the skepticism and allow skeptics to rather embrace the concept and think about a potential future with modular smartphones, we have created this “Who is Who” and “Who does what?” for Project Ara.
