Apple has reportedly sold 1.3 million iPhones in India between 2014-15

A new report suggests that Cupertino giant Apple has sold over 1.3 million iPhones in India over a one year period. Understandably, a large chunk of those sales came after the launch of the iPhone 6 and the 6 Plus in the country last October.
Apple is reported to have registered revenues of $1 billion in the country for the first time in its history. This is supposedly a 40% increase over its revenues in the same period last year, which makes it very clear that the new iPhones have had a major impact on the Indian market.
Apple hasn't enjoyed a large marketshare in India with regional players dominating the scene, not to mention companies like Samsung, LG etc who also have a strong hold in the Indian smartphone segment. But the launch of the large screen iPhones have finally led to the consumers embracing the Apple ecosystem.
These figures were provided by a research firm and Apple is yet to officially post its revenue figures with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in India. We don't expect there to be any disparity in those final figures though, as companies are usually very transparent when it comes to posting sales figures, even more so if it's a giant like Apple which takes great pride in its sales numbers.
It is to be seen if the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 will have an impact on Apple's sales figure this year as it has been widely praised for its feature set and design.
The iPhone 6 is available in India with a starting price of about Rs. 46,000 through online retailers while the iPhone 6 Plus can be purchased for under Rs. 60,000 online.
