Microsoft Lumia 640 will be one of the first to receive Windows 10 update

A video of Microsoft's Scandinavian General Manager Ossi
Korpela reveals that the Microsoft Lumia 640 will be among
the first Windows Phone handsets to receive the Windows
10 for Phone update. The handset, which is expected to be
eventually released in the U.S. by T-Mobile, it's pre-paid
MetroPCS division, and AT&T, will receive the update later
this year according to the Microsoft executive.
Besides discussing the update, Korpela calls the Lumia 640
an affordable high-end model. The device is equipped with a
5-inch screen carrying a 720 x 1280 resolution. This
combination produces a pixel density of 294ppi. A quad-
core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU is under the hood with
1GB of RAM inside. The Lumia 640 comes with 8GB of
native storage, and for those who need additional memory
there is a 128GB microSD slot available. An 8MP camera
adorns the back of the unit and there is a .9MP front-facing
snapper ready to shoot selfies. A 2500mAh battery keeps
the lights on.
Since the mobile version of Windows 10 is still months
away, promoting the handsets that will be the first to receive
the update is an important sales tactic for Microsoft. Most
new phone buyers aren't going to twiddle their thumbs
waiting for Windows 10 for Phone to be released.
