How to Install Mokee based on Android KitKat for Redmi 2

Mokee ROM based on Android v4.4 KitKat is now available for Xiaomi Redmi 2. The ROM is based on the previous version of Android. It is unofficial ROM for Redmi 2 so you neither get OTA (Over The Air) updates on your device nor ETA for next release. If you are still interested in flashing Mokee for Redmi 2 then we have prepared a guide for you to install this ROM with ease.
Please Note – This process will void your smartphone’s warranty and there are chances of instability with most of the custom ROMs for Xiaomi devices. This project is still in the development phase.
Before proceeding installation of Mokee for Redmi 2 you must be prepared for whole procedure
  • Make sure your smartphone is charged more than 50%, I wouldn’t risk my phone.
  • You must have a custom recovery installed on your smartphone, I would suggest and recommend TWRP over CWM for your Redmi 2.
  • Enable USB debugging just in case to prevent mishap.
  • This tutorial is only for Redmi 2, please don’t try this on Redmi 1s or Redmi Note, If you want Lollipop then here is the procedure respectively, click here for 1s and click here for note.
  • Backup all your essential stuff, pictures, videos, game data and more.
Let’s being installing Mokee KitKat for Redmi 2
  • Download Mokee Kitkat for Redmi 2 from the link below along with Google Applications for Android KitKat.
  • Download Mokee KitKat for Redmi 2. Click here to download Mokee KitKat for Redmi 2. Password for ROM zip file is bjis. Download Google Applications package for KitKat. Click here to download Google Applications. Download SuperSU for your Smartphone to get root access. Click here to download SuperSU for Redmi 2.
  • Now transfer all zip files to your smartphone’s SD card via USB or Wi-Fi sharing.
  • Turn off your phone
  • Now Enter into recovery mode either by physical buttons or using MIUI’s updater application. Manually use Volume Up + Power Key simultaneously.
  • Don’t forget to wipe cache, dalvik cache, user data and system.
  • Select Install and then Browse Mokee zip file and flash it.
  • Followed by Google Applications.
  • If you want root access then flash superSU zip.
  • Reboot to the system.
Hurray you have successfully installed Mokee KitKat for Redmi 2. Be patient because first boot can take a while and reboot smartphone again to make it more stable.
Rooting -> You need to flash SuperSU zip file from recovery after flashing ROM and Google Applications to get root access.
